Experience & Approach

A Holistic, Empowering Model of Care

My approach combines evidence-based physiotherapy with hands-on treatment, education, movement rehabilitation and nervous system–informed strategies within a holistic and empowering model of care. Treatment is tailored to the individual, recognising the close connection between physical and emotional wellbeing in the healing process.

Services include clinic-based, community and in-home physiotherapy support as required.

Over the years, my passion for learning and professional development has led me to undertake extensive postgraduate studies and advanced training in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, spinal and orthopaedic manual therapy, sport psychology, holistic life coaching, mind–body approaches and Pain Reprocessing Therapy for persistent pain.

As a former competitive athlete, I understand the challenges, frustrations and emotional impact that injuries and physical setbacks can have on everyday life. My experience working with individuals experiencing persistent pain, together with personal and professional life experiences, led me to explore broader and more holistic approaches to recovery beyond the traditional biomedical model alone.

This growing interest in the complex nature of persistent pain inspired further study into mind–body and nervous system–informed approaches, including the potential role they may play in supporting recovery, resilience and long-term wellbeing.

I am passionate about supporting individuals through compassionate, holistic and evidence-based physiotherapy care that promotes recovery, confidence, independence and active living.

Understanding Recovery

A Mind–Body Approach to Healing

What is a Holistic Mind–Body Approach?

A holistic mind–body approach recognises the close connection between physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing in the healing and recovery process. Rather than viewing the body and mind as separate, it acknowledges that each can influence pain, movement, stress, recovery and overall health.

This approach combines evidence-based physiotherapy with education, movement rehabilitation, hands-on treatment and nervous system–informed strategies to support the whole person — not just a diagnosis or injury.

At the centre of this approach is YOU.

The name MindBody&YOU reflects the belief that every individual’s experiences, goals, lifestyle and wellbeing are important parts of the recovery journey.

What is Neuroplastic Pain?

Neuroplastic pain is pain that persists despite little or no ongoing tissue damage, or continues long after an injury would normally be expected to heal.

Pain is a normal protective response designed to keep us safe. However, sometimes the brain can become overly protective and misinterpret safe messages from the body as if they were dangerous. In other words, the brain generates a “false alarm”, producing real pain even when there is no ongoing threat or significant tissue damage.

Importantly, neuroplastic pain is real pain. It is not imagined or “all in your head”. Research suggests that pain can become linked to learned neural pathways and protective patterns within the brain and nervous system. Because the brain is capable of change, these patterns can often be retrained.

Examples may include some presentations of persistent back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, fibromyalgia, repetitive strain injuries, headaches and other chronic pain conditions that persist beyond normal tissue healing timeframes.

What is Pain Reprocessing Therapy?

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals better understand and respond to persistent pain. It is based on growing research showing that, in some people, pain can continue due to learned neural pathways and protective responses within the brain and nervous system rather than ongoing tissue damage alone.

PRT focuses on helping individuals understand the role of the brain and nervous system in pain, reduce fear and threat associated with symptoms, and develop a greater sense of safety and confidence in movement and everyday activities.

As a physiotherapist and certified Pain Reprocessing Therapist, I integrate PRT principles within a broader physiotherapy approach that may also include movement rehabilitation, exercise, hands-on treatment, education and nervous system–informed strategies.

PRT is not about suggesting that pain is imaginary or “all in your head”. Rather, it provides a framework for understanding how pain can become overprotective and how the brain and nervous system can learn new patterns that support recovery.
